Everyone deserves a chance to start again.

If things haven’t quite gone to plan for you this year, fear not… it is completely okay to start over. It doesn’t mean the rest of time has been wasted, it was all lessons for you to learn.

Here’s some all important information about how to get back on the right track and off to a fresh start this new year:

1. Let go of the past and accept it

Nobody is perfect. It’s not good to dwell on things you can’t change, so accept what happened last year and put it behind you, don’t be too hard on yourself!

Reflect on what happened, and accept it as lessons in life.

2. Set out clear goals

The best thing about making mistakes is that we can learn from them! Take a look back at the things you’re not so proud of and set our clear goals on how to avoid making the same mistakes again. Most of all, understand that mistakes are OK.

3. Look forward to change

Get excited! Change, whilst scary, is also really good for us. Especially if things haven’t gone so well recently. Focus on the positive things on the horizon.

Change is inevitable for all of us at many points in our lives. If you are struggling to deal with a lot of change, you may find this useful.

4. Clean and tidy the space where you live

Focus on starting with small changes, in this case give your bedroom a complete spring clean. Have a Marie Kondo tidy session and check out some YouTube videos on organising your space better.

You know what they say, clear room, clear mind.

5. Express yourself in healthy ways

If you struggle to express your emotions, there are loads of ways to express yourself in positive ways rather than bottling it up. Try confiding in a trusted friend about things that have been bothering you or writing it down in a journal or a letter. Simply acknowledging that you have these emotions is a good step towards feeling better about things on the whole.

6. Ditch the negativity

No one is happy all of the time. Every single person will have ups and downs and it’s OK to not be OK from time to time. The best way to deal with this is to focus on positive things. Literally writing down a list of good things in your life will instantly have a positive effect on your moods and emotions.

Try not to stay too long when you’re thinking about negative things, whilst it’s ok to feel this way, it’s not good to get bogged down in negativity.

7. Ask for help

Everyone deserves a helping hand. Believe it or not, no what’s happened in the past there will always be someone to help you move forward.

Friends and family are a good start, but don’t forget that you can always speak to someone at Ditch the Label too!

8. Most importantly

If you mess up, that makes you human. If we never made a mistake, we would struggle to learn anything.

Remember; you are not your mistake
